Valdosta police search for deceased man's family

August 16, 2002

by Ashley Harper

Valdosta police are looking for the family of a transient who was killed Wednesday, in the parking lot of a local truck stop.

The 46-year-old man was run over by an 18-wheeler in the parking lot of the Texaco Truck Stop on Highway 84 West. So far, efforts to find anyone related to the man have been unsuccessful.

"We haven't had much luck, but if you look long enough, you'll find something," said Sgt. Steve Owens. "We have some leads in a couple of states so we think we're going to find someone who can tell us something."

The man's name will not be released until his relatives have been notified. If you have any information on this case, please call the Valdosta Police Department at (229) 293-3091.
