Valdosta - The Lady Blazers hosted Eckerd Wednesday night sandwiched between two road trips to tournaments in Florida and South Carolina.

Eckerd came prepared and won in four sets, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22, to drop the Lady Blazers to 5-5 on the season.

Irene Hannan continued to show her attacking prowess with 12 kills to lead the Lady Blazers, but she doubled up with 12 digs.

Ruthie King led the team in digs with 13, and Chelsea Logan led all players in attack percentage with six kills on 15 attempts for a .267%.

She also lead the team in blocks with three assists and one solo.

Lea Weber led all players with 27 assists.

VSU played a strong second set to stay in the match.

The Lady Blazers scored more than 20 points in sets four and five, but it would not be enough to defeat the Tritons.

Lydee Benoit led all players with 13 kills for Eckerd while Kristy Busse dug the ball up 10 times.

Megan Golovkin passed for 12 assists while Brianne Smith gave 18.

There were three Tritons with three blocks. Keisha Carter and Ariana Chinn collected three solo blocks while Allegra Shaw blocked twice and had one assisted block.

The Tritons had one more block than VSU.

Valdosta State will look to bounce back at the University of South Carolina-Aiken Volleyball Tournament this weekend.
