ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Time is running out to get ready for the Big Switch. The nationwide digital television transition will take place on February 17th. Anyone with an analog television set that is not hooked up to cable or satellite will need to buy a converter box.

But don't throw away your "rabbit ears" just yet. You will still need your antennas in order for your converter boxes to work.

"If you don't have cable or satellite, you need the antenna and you need the converter box. The converter changes the digital signal back to analog so that your TV can receive it," Radio Shack store manager, Stephany Bodner.

The government is issuing $40.00 coupons to off-set the cost of the converter box. You can call 1-888-DTV-2009 to order yours.
