ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More and more people in Dougherty County want to play their part in this year's historic presidential election.

With John McCain's announcement to have Sarah Palin for his vice- president, the number of new voter registrations is expected to continue.

Anyone who still needs to register must have their forms into the elections office post marked by October 6th, the deadline to be able to vote in the presidential election.

"We've had a lot of registrations, yes. In fact we got about 900 new folks between August one and September one. So that's a lot of new registrations," said Supervisor, Carolyn Hatcher.

October 6th is also the deadline to have your change of address forms filed. Absentee voting for the November 4th election will start September 22nd.
