Valdosta - The fate of a South Georgia Sheriff is now in the hands of a jury.

They will determine if Clinch County Sheriff Winston Peterson is guilty or not guilty of perjury and two counts obstruction of justice.

After a number of character witnesses and closing arguments, the jury began deliberating around 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.

The jury has gone home Wednesday night, and will return to the courtroom Thursday morning at 9:00.
