ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Republican Dougherty County School Board candidate beaten by David Maschke in the primary is now supporting Maschke's Democratic challenger.

Republican Laura Calhoun is now the campaign manager for Richard Anson. Anson is retiring from his at-large school board seat and is running against Maschke for the District one seat.

"Laura brings with her a good set of organizational skills. She is very committed to the school system," said Anson.

"Partisan politics tends to divide a community, and we don't need that on a school board. We need to work together to come to a consensus for the good of the kids," said Calhoun.

Anson was appointed by the Democratic party to take the place of Judith Corbett who dropped out of the race.
