A South Georgia Sheriff paid especially close attention to the Sidney Dorsey case.

Colquitt County Sheriff Al Whittington has a picture of the late Sheriff elect Derwin Brown hanging on his office wall.

Sheriff Whittington and Brown sat next to each other for several months during Sheriff Elect Academy. He says, "Derwin talked with us on several occasions about things going on in the DeKalb County that were not right and needed to be corrected. Because of those things and the way Derwin was killed and with the former Sheriff Sidney Dorsey involvement, as far as I'm concerned, Mr. Dorsey needs to stay in prison the rest of his life."

Sheriff Whittington says he remembers Brown talking about being followed during his election campaign.

Whittington saw Brown for the last time a few hours before he was shot and killed. That night, they were celebrating their graduation from Sheriff's Academy.
