ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A change in state law will give voters an extra 45 days to cast a ballot in the November fourth election.
Earlier this year the Senate passed a bill that allows for in person voting 45 days prior to an election. They hope it will help out with the lines come election day. Dougherty County's election office is registering more people to vote every day.
"They want to make sure that they're registered. A lot of people who have never registered are registering for this election because of course it's a presidential election and it's a big one," said Noel Buttner, Dougherty County Elections Office.
Voters can cast a ballot at the election office 45 days before November fourth. Early voting will be held the week before election day at the Candy Room on Pine Avenue in downtown Albany.
