Your tax dollars may provide a new park for Lowndes county. County commissioners are discussing preliminary plans for a north Lowndes recreation facility in Hahira.

The park would be located behind the Hahira industrial park. Construction depends on the August 20th Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum.

"The park will include a baseball field, tennis courts, lake, and we're also looking at a skate park," said Paige Dukes, Public Information Officer.

Total funds available for construction depend on the amount of SPLOST collections. County commissioners estimate the park's total cost will range from 1 to 2 million dollars.
