Monroe's Lumpkin earns player of week honors

September 4, 2008

Albany - It is time to present our first Orthopaedic Associates Albany area high school football player of the week for the 2008 season.

Dr. James Mason from Orthopaedic Associates made the presentation Thursday to Monroe running back Dominque Lumpkin.

The junior ran for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns in his first career start in Monroe's win over Kendrick last week.

Dominque wants to share this award with some deserving linemen.

Dominque Lumpkin said "Like Early Mumfree, Jacob Carter, Anthony Sheridan, Brandon Truitt and David Coe. They opened up holes for me."

The Monroe line is ready to block for Dominque Lumpkin when the Tornadoes play at Terrell County Friday night in Dawson.
