MONTGOMERY - The evacuation Governor Bob Riley ordered on Sunday for low-lying and flood-prone areas of southern Mobile and Baldwin counties was lifted by the Governor 9:00 a.m.
Tuesday.
 
"All roads are now open and it's safe for residents to return," said Governor Riley.  "I thank all those who heeded the evacuation order and got out of harm's way."

The evacuation order, which went into effect at 7 a.m. Sunday, applied to residents of Mobile County in Hurricane Evacuation Zone 1, which is south of Interstate 10, and Baldwin County residents on Fort Morgan Peninsula, Plash Island, and areas south of Fort Morgan Road in Gulf Shores.
