ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Gustav forced millions of people from their homes this weekend and some of them made it all the way here to Albany. Mississippi and Louisiana license plates were seen in several hotel parking lots Monday. Almost every hotel we contacted said they had several evacuees staying with them. The Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Albany has about 40 people that made the trip to escape Gustav. Workers at the hotel say these guests haven't set a definite check out date. Instead they're waiting to see what will happen next.

"They watch the news and they'll ask us to keep them updated. They'll stop by the desk and ask if anything has changed. Most of them are just waiting it out you know there is another hurricane coming in so they're just waiting to see how that's going to affect them, and I guess they'll just make their decision then," says Wingate employee Donnie Wooten.

Wingate employees say they stay on top of what is going on with the storm...so they can keep their guests informed. Feedback
