A Dougherty County commissioner retires after serving for 15 years. And, and three democrats are running for the vacated seat.

Connie Meier has represented District 4 on the county commission since 1987. Today, Meier voiced her support for Chuck Lingle, a candidate to succeed her. Lingle served on the school board for 12 years.

He is running against Tommy Pollock and Roger Marietta, a professor at Darton College and a former mayor of Fayetteville.

"I'd like to work on economic development to increase revenue for our county. I will also like to continue good stewardship of the money we're bringing in," said Lingle.

Lingle also has the support of County commission chairman Lamar Reese.
