Athens - Before the number one ranked Georgia football team opens their 2008 season against Georgia Southern, the Bulldog nation will celebrate the passing of the torch for their beloved mascot UGA.
UGA VII will make his first appearance before Saturday's Georgia game at Sanford Stadium.
Officially named "Loran's Best", UGA VII will become the official mascot during a pre-game ceremony at midfield.
UGA VII will be escorted onto the field by Charles Seiler and two grandchildren of Frank "Sonny" Seiler who owned the beloved Georgia mascots.
A tribute will also be shown on the Sanford Stadium scoreboard to UGA VI who died in June.
