ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Water, Gas, and Light employees will hopefully become a little heart healthier. The utility is about to participate in an American Heart Association program called START.

A one mile route through downtown will be mapped out and employees will be encouraged to walk during their lunch breaks or before or after work. There's no cost for WG&L to participate, only the benefit of healthy employees.

Lori Farkas said, "Healthy employees stay in their jobs longer, they do their job better and certain we want everybody to be as health as they can."

Employees will also participate in the Heart Association's Heart Walk on October 23rd in memory of Larry Marchbanks. Marchbanks was a 40 year employee of Water, Gas and Light who died suddenly of a heart attack in July.
