COLQUITT, GA (WALB) - Its an unexpected location for a film and TV production studio,  even more unusual for Hollywood celebrity sightings like Ella Joyce, television actress from shows like "Roc" and "My Wife and Kids".

"Southwest Georgia! I'm having the time of my life. A man named Ralph Wilcox invited me here for the Jokara Michaeux Festival," explains Joyce.  Ralph Wilcox, the man who started it all is celebrating the 3rd annual Jokara-Micheaux Film Festival.  "This literally marks another milestone in the vision of the work I've been pursuing here which is bringing the film and television industry to the region," said Wilcox.

He says in the beginning people doubted if it would happen. But today, with Hollywood heavy hitters in attendance, like Joel Zwick, director of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", its clear his dream is becoming reality.  "If you're looking for rural, country, if you're looking for small town, I don't know if you could do much better," says Zwick.

He says he and other filmmakers will look to Georgia more and more in the future when choosing locations. "They've done well because they've come up with their own tax incentive plan. Which I believe is arguably one of the top 2 or 3 in the country and some people say the best in the country," says Zwick.

With movie screenings, symposiums, and a block party, there's something for everyone this weekend.  But the highlight will be the screening of "The Lena Baker Story", the studio's latest film.  "Because I appreciate so much the support that I've gotten in this region, I thought that it would be so absolutely wonderful to show the entire film, before it is released, at this film festival," says Wilcox.

Lisa Hamil, casting director for "The Lena Baker Story says, "It was such a great script that we actually didn't have to hard of a time of getting the name actors to come out here." Even more stars will be here this weekend, so for movie buffs, this weekend the Jokara-Micheaux film festival is the place to be.

There will also be events in Blakely and Camilla throughout the weekend.  Oscar and Emmy winner Louis Gosset, Junior will be the keynote Speaker at "The Lena Baker Story" screening Saturday night.  See the complete itinerary of the weekend's events.
