Valdosta gets assistance from GEMA

The city of Valdosta received a reimbursement check today for major drainage improvements. GEMA representatives presented Mayor James Rainwater with a check for over $14,000.

"Hopefully, this money will help them in totally eliminating their flooding problem," said Bill Blackwell, GEMA representative.

The money will assist with the design and construction of drainage improvements in the area of West Street.

The total costs for the project is an estimated $250,000.
