A Lowndes county teen-ager will be tried as an adult for the murder of her newborn son.
In April 2001, Aleshia Howard told investigators she had been raped at Lowndes high school. She was treated at South Georgia Medical center where an emergency room doctor suspected she had just given birth.
When investigators searched her home, they found the body of a newborn male child in a plastic grocery bag hidden in Howard's closet.
Howard is being held without bond in the Lowndes county jail. She is charged with murder and concealing the death of another.
