ALBANY, GA (WALB) - That referee who filed charges against a flag football player at Phoebe Putney Hospital won't be calling their games anymore.

Phoebe has canceled its contract with the group that provides the referees.

One of the referees, Lee County Magistrate Judge Jim Thurman, had player Rusty Hayes charged with disorderly conduct earlier this week. He said Hayes threatened him over some calls he made during the game.

Phoebe officials said they believe Thurman, who is also a former Albany Police Officer, runs that referee organization, and they will no longer use them.
