Lady Rams volleyball team start season short-handed

August 21, 2008

Albany - The Albany State volleyball team is ready to begin their quest for an eighth straight Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.

Injuries will make it big challenge for the Lady Rams to earn that eighth title.

Outside hitters Latriece Lewis and Rayelle Spencer are both out with knee injuries.

Lewis is expected to miss the next four to six weeks.

The Lady Rams do have setter Chenel Wilson back along with middle hitter Rachel Anderson and freshman Shabril Abdullah.

The Lady Rams will rely on their middle offense against an SIAC schedule that is much more competitive.

Head coach Robert Skinner said "If we can get the ballhandling the way we want it then we will be able to the middle a lot more this year.

Albany State hosts Savannah State on September 2nd.
