AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The director of the Humane Society was killed when her riding lawn mower rolled on top of her.
58-year-old Jackie Sellers was mowing around the mailbox of her house on Myrtle Springs Road Monday night.
The Sheriff says it appears the wheel of the mower dropped into a low spot, and when she tried to get it out, the mower flipped over on her.
Her housekeeper called the Sheriff's Office after she discovered the house unlocked.
She wasn't found until this morning, when a deputy spotted her body in the ditch.
Sellers worked at the Sumter County Humane Society for nine years. One of her biggest goals was the development of a new Humane Society facility.
