Albany commissioners debated for hours today, then made no decision on changing their policy on take home city vehicles.

Right now 65 employees drive cars home.

Commissioner David Williams made a motion to change the current policy so that city cars couldn't be driven outside the county. Another motion allowed only public safety and on call employees to take home cars. But commissioners decided to table the decision for yet another week.

Albany spends $66,000 a year on take-home car allowances for city department heads alone. The city manager will report back how much the city spends on its vehicles altogether.
