Ocilla - Irwin County Indians are going on the defensive this season.
Head coach John Gamble has seven starters back on defense.
The Indians lost only one defensive lineman, one defensive back and two linebackers.
The big hole to fill is on offense at running back where four players are vying to succeed Terry Ashley.
Coach Gamble says Horace Young and Lonnie Johnson are among those in line to lead the ground attack.
The key for the Indians could be the development of junior quarterback Clint Paulk who started last year.
The Indians will need all the weapons they can find to survive a very brutal region 2-A schedule.
Irwin County coach John Gamble said "Our region is going to be really tough. We are going to a seven team region this year which is a little bit different than the sub-region we had last year. I think five of the seven teams made the state playoffs last year."
Irwin County will open the season at Fitzgerald on August 29th.
