Valdosta - Running back is a position of concern for Valdosta State one week before their season opener.
Former Dougherty star Ronnye Nelson is the only back on the roster who carried the football last season.
Valdosta State coaches are hoping former Florida Gator Markus Manson can provide the Blazer backfield with experience.
Manson transferried to VSU for his final season of college football.
A highly touted running back from Tuscaloosa, Manson was moved to defensive back at Florida.
But he is back in the backfield with Blazers and is looking forward for his chance to carry the football this season.
Markus Manson said "It is really no difference. the only thing is the speed. Here, everybody works hard because we are division two and we have got to prove ourselves. It is nice. It is nice."
Valdosta State football team will host Meet the Blazer Day Satursday morning starting at 9:00 a.m..
The Blazers open the season next Saturday against Fort Valley State.
