VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Two of the four federal charges against a South Georgia Sheriff have been dropped.
Judge Hugh Lawson dismissed two counts against Clinch County Sheriff Winston Peterson.
One obstruction charged accused Peterson of tipping off former Judge Brooks Blitch of the identity of an FBI Informant.
The other, a forced labor charge that claimed he forced an inmate to work at a business managed by his wife.
Lawson has not ruled on another obstruction charge and a perjury count.
Peterson remains on the job and faces three opponents in the November general election.
