Tift County will rely on senior leadership and talent

Tifton - Defending state champs Lowndes and Northside-Warner Robins are the preseason picks in the region 1-AAAAA race.

But don't overlook the Tift County Blue Devils.

Tift County has seven starters back on defense.

They include linebackers Josh Abbott-a four year starter- and Shayon Green-who has committed to Purdue.

The offense has quarterback Nick Protsko returning and Malcolm Dixon has looked solid in preseason camp.

The big question marks are offensive line and running back.

The Devils are looking for Deion Jackson and Stefen Toomer, son of Robert Toomer, to lead the ground attack.

Tift County's biggest asset this year may be a big senior class.

Jay Walls said "I think we do have a competitive team. We have a senior class that is pretty strong. We have got a lot of seniors. So, that should make us better on paper. But of course you have to play on grass as you know."

Tift County will find out how good they are early when the Blue Devils host Roswell on August 29th.
