Leesburg - It was long Friday for Leesburg's Buster Posey.
The first round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants waschecking the clock and waiting to hear if his contract negotiations would be settled by a midnight deadline.
The negotiations went down to the wire but Buster says he got the phone call fives minutes before midnight
San Francisco say the Giants are paying Posey a team record $6.2 million bonus.
A figure that is slightly higher than Matt Wieters got when he was drafted in the same spot as Posey last year by Baltimore.
The waiting game was not the game Buster Posey is used to playing but now that it is over, the Golden Spikes winner is ready to start his professional baseball career.
Buster Posey said "I am excited. I hadn't played in a game in about two months. I will be back in it pretty quick. They are going to send me to Scottsdale and from there to one of their minor league teams."
Buster Posey leaves for the Giants spring training complex on Monday.
