About 100 soldiers are scheduled to return to Fort Benning in Georgia after a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. The unit is made up of soldiers assigned at Fort Benning and medical personnel from throughout the Army.More >>
DAWSON, GA (WALB) - State budget cuts will close the Terrell County Probation Detention Center.
The 59 employees will be reassigned to other probation detention centers within a 50 mile radius of Terrell County.
Probation detainees who aren't released before the October first closure date will be reassigned to other facilities where additional beds have bee added to handle the closure.
The closure will save the Department of Corrections $2.4 million.
