August 5, 2002

Abraham Baldwin College will celebrate its nearly 100 year history with a new 1.5 million dollar project.

School and State leaders were hammering away breaking ground on the Pedestrian Mall that will close off the campus's interior roadways. They'll be replaced by a brick walkway and historical markers  Students will play a big part in the project's landscaping.

Mike Vollmer, ABAC President, said, "Students from all around Georgia can see every plant in Georgia, and we're excited about this opportunity."

The project is funded by the Board of Regents, Department of Transportation, and private donations. The walkway will tie in historic buildings to 40 million dollars worth of new buildings and renovations already underway.
