Two-hundred middle school students in need of basic school supplies got backpacks filled with those supplies today.

World Vision Albany distributed the backpacks at Dougherty Middle and Southside Middle.

World Vision's Margaret Taylor says the bags contain everything the students need to be productive at school.

"These backpacks contain basic school supplies; paper, pen, folders. We recognize kids are in need and we want to assist them."

The group also gave 30 backpacks to Communities in Schools to give away at Dougherty High School.
