Flowers: Dougherty High will be better in '08

August 13, 2008

Albany - In the two seasons since playing for a state championship, the Dougherty High Trojans have failed to make the state playoffs.

Head coach Charles Flowers looks to end that drought in his second season at Dougherty.

Flowers, who won a state title at Shaw High in Columbus, is excited about his backfield where quarterback Felton Walls and backs Arabian Williams and Rico Watts return.

The defense also returns both linebackers.

The big concern is up front where lineman Michael Bennett has been moved to defense and Cedric Williams to offensive line.

Despite the holes to plug, coach Flowers believes the Trojans will be a better football team this fall.

Charles Flowers said "I like our chances. I think we are much improved. That is what we to do. We try to improve day to day, game to game and we are looking forward to it."

Dougherty opens the season on the road August 29th against Americus-Sumter High school.
