ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A second Moultrie family has filed a complaint over the e-coli outbreak in Moultrie.
The suit names Nebraska Beef Limited, the apparent source of contaminated beef sold at a Moultrie restaurant. Lillie Ruth and Theron Richter filed the case in federal court in Valdosta. Ruth ate at The Barbeque Pit twice in late June and by July first was hospitalized after testing positive for e-coli.
Last month, 72 year old Evelyn Stewart filed the first local lawsuit after she had infection complications. Her family says her medical bills are expected to reach $750,000. Eight people tested positive for e-coli after eating at The Barbeque Pit, four others developed HUS.
