Leesburg advances to legion title game

August 5, 2002

Leesburg 182 scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to beat Albany Post 30 4-3.

The victory sends Leesburg into Tuesday's championship game against Douglasville at field #2 at the Paul Eames Complex.

The painful loss ends the season for the defending Southeastern Regional Champion Albany Post 30 squad that won its third South Georgia area title in the last four years last week.

Leesburg 182 finished third at the same tournament but after losing 7-5 to Post 30 on Saturday has beaten Vienna, Alpharetta and Post 30 to earn a spot in the championship game.

To win the State American Legion title, Leesburg will have to beat Douglasville twice on Tuesday. The championship action will start at 10am.
