Valdosta - The bad news for the rest of the state of Georgia is that it is not a rebuilding year for Lowndes High.
The defending state champions have 13 starters returning.
The Vikings are not only the favorites to win a fourth state title in the last five years they are also ranked third in the nation.
The main man at Lowndes is Greg Reid who stars on offense, defense and special teams.
The defense will be tough with Gerald Demps and Marcus Solomon also in the secondary.
The Vikings won last year's state title with an offensive line of sophomores who are now juniors.
The biggest obstacle Lowndes faces in another state title run is getting out of their region that adds two time state champion Northside-Warner Robins.
Randy McPherson said "There are no weeks off. Anybody in the region can take it. That is just the way it is and that is probably the way it is going to stay."
Lowndes opens the season at home against Woodland High.
