QUITMAN, GA - An armed and dangerous suspected criminal is off the streets.

A Florida fugitive was captured in Georgia late last night.

38 year-old Matthew Lowe was arrested in Quitman on probation violation and battery charges in South Florida.

He was originally arrested on gun charges

A tip led authorities to Madison County, Florida but he got away when law enforcers tried to take him into custody.

A few hours later, he was spotted in Quitman.

Police, deputies and U.S. Marshals surrounded the house.

He tried to run again but was tased and captured.

"He was classified as armed and dangerous. I'm very pleased that a fugitive like that was taken off the streets with ease, with no problems and no one was injured and no one was hurt," Quitman Police Chief Wesley Ross.

Lowe is currently at the Brooks County Jail waiting to be extradited to West Palm Beach, Florida.
