August 1, 2008

Albany - While most college football teams will hit the practice field this weekend, the Albany State Golden Rams are still playing the waiting game.

Head coach Mike White and his squad will not open fall camp for another six days.

Albany State fans are certainly ready for some Ram football.

A nice turnout of alums and fans for the annual football kickoff at the Albany Municipal Coliseum Friday evening.

The Rams looking to reclaim their spot atop the SIAC this season. Head coach Mike White says Albany State has some holes to fill on both lines of scrimmage.

A big hit was the decision by defensive linemen Cedric Boone and Donald Hanna not to come back for their senior seasons.

But the coach believes the Rams can put it together on the practice field this month and have another big season.

Head coach Mike White said "We have got a lot of young guys and a few guys coming back. We think 2008 should be a good year for us."

Albany State will start practice on Thursday and the season opener is August 30th against Shaw University at the Albany Municipal Coliseum.
