Tifton, GA (WALB) - Friends and co-workers are mourning the death of a man who fell 25-feet off a billboard in Tifton yesterday. 24-year old Daniel Dustin Merritt died while working on this sign near I-75. He worked for BPS, a sign company in Tifton.  The operations manager told us the company does have safety rules for employees who work at dangerous heights.  And they're still investigating how the accident happened. The assistant coroner told us Merritt unhooked his safety harness as he was about to come down the ladder and lost his balance and fell. Company officials told us flowers are being placed by the billboard to honor Merritt. Feedback
