DECATUR COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Fish and game enthusiasts have a new hot spot to check out.   Friday, Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area in southern Decatur county opened to the public.

DNR commissioner Noel Holcomb said they've already made vast improvements at the 8,400 acre site since the state purchased it.  "Since we gained ownership we've started doing things that make public access much easier. We've been improving roads, making access to the lake better by putting in boat ramps, putting up signage so you can find your way around the site," said Holcomb.

The DNR is already stocking the lakes. They also plan to improve access on the banks for children's fishing areas.
