IRON CITY, GA (WALB) - Thirty-eight-year-old Lori B. Jernigan was traveling east on highway 84 near Iron City in Seminole County.

Danny Lee Stewart was hauling cattle and was trying to turn into this private pasture. He had come to a stop on the highway while someone opened the gate.  Jernigan ran into the back of the truck.

Georgia State Trooper Earl Prince warned, "What we want you to do is pay attention. Don't be distracted. Stay off the cell phone, don't be applying makeup and stuff like that. It doesn't have to be a semi, it could be another vehicle or a pedestrian or anything. You should always be aware of what your surroundings are and be able to react if something does happen."

Jernigan was pronounced dead at the scene. The specialized reconstruction team out of Valdosta is investigating the crash.
