Valdosta - Valdosta State is ready to get the 2008 season started and the Blazers don't have a lot of time to prepare before they play their first game.
The defending Division II national champions reportng for the start of fall practice Thursday afternoon.
The players will undergo physicals and meetings for two days before the first practice is Saturday.
Head coach David Dean keeping with the tradition of holding two practice sessions in the first couple of days.
Half the Blazers practice in the morning and the others in the afternoon so that coaches can get good evaluation on every player.
Coach Dean says reporting day could not get here fast enough for his Blazer football team.
David Dean said "We are ready to get back on the grass. Be a team. Be a family. Find out what this team all about. Find out if we are going to be good. If we are going to be mediocre. Find out what the make up is going to be."
Valdosta State has just three weeks to be ready to play with the season opener on August 23rd against Fort Valley State at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
