ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The warnings are over and if you jaywalk in Albany, you'll get a ticket.

Pedestrians aren't using crosswalks downtown and that's dangerous. Police say, if it takes giving you a ticket to protect you, that's what they'll do.

"A pedestrian crossing between a couple of cars gives them little time for the driver to react and it could be serious if not fatal," said Cpl. Paul Guhl, Albany Police.

Drivers who also don't stop for pedestrians waiting in the crosswalk can also face a fine.
