ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Bond was set Wednesday for a Tallahassee man accused of gunning down a suspected thief at an Albany Motel.
20-year old John Underwood made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning on an aggravated assault charge. He was arrested by police early Tuesday after he admitted shooting 19-year-old Charlie Henderson at Comfort Inn and Suites on Dawson Road. He says Henderson was breaking into his and other cars in the parking lot.
Magistrate Court Judge Denise Marshall set bond at $10,000 with a special condition that he has no contact with the victim in the case.
This is Underwood's first felony charge. He advised the judge that he did have an attorney handling his case.
Police have not said if Henderson, the man who was shot, will be charged with a crime. He underwent surgery yesterday for a gunshot wound to the arm and is in fair condition.
