VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A fugitive wanted for the attempted murder of a Virginia sheriff was caught here in South Georgia.

33-year old Grover Vanover was picked up from his sister's house in Ray City Sunday afternoon.

Police say they went to question him about a separate issue.

When they ran his information, they realized he was wanted in Virginia.

He's charged in a high speed chase in which a Virginia Sheriff's car was pushed off a mountain.

Vanover is currently in the Berrien County Jail awaiting extradition.
