Huntsville- Despite a 29 to 6 run in the second half from the Vipers of Tennessee Valley, South Georgia managed to pull out a 54 to 50 victory on Saturday night. The win gave the wildcats their first division title since moving to Albany.
Clinging on to a 54 to 50 lead with 7 seconds remaining in the game South Georgia's defense delivered a crucial sack to Tennessee Valley Quarterback Kevin Eakin. The sack ran the game clock to zero and the Wildcats were able to prevent a driving Viper team from getting in the endzone.
The win secures the number 2 seed for the Wildcats in the playoffs. They will host the Manchester Wolves next Saturday. Tickets are currently on sale.
