Leesburg - In two years, the Lee County volleyball program has made incredible progress with 24 wins last year and a trip to the state tournament.
Head coach Sherri Almond bringing one of her former players to help with her summer camp this week.
Laura Tomes, who is a member of the USA nationial volleyball team, is in Lee County working with the Lady Trojans squad.
Tomes played high school volleyball for coach Almond in Iowa.
She is currently on hiatus from the USA national team while rehabbing an injury which has kept her for playing in the Summer Olympic games next month in China.
Tomes has used her rehab time to work a number of summer camps and loves being able to teach the game to new players.
Laura Tomes said "It is so exciting because they are so raw and they don't have these bad habits developed yet. So, we just get to come in and teach the game and show them how to love the game. Show them how to be in the gym."
The Lee County volleyball team starts practicing next Friday and their first match is August 14th.
