Moultrie - Last week's decision to cut ABAC basketball may have come as a shock. The ABAC program has had its share of great players.
Many of whom have found stardom after their Stallion days.
One such player is former Colquitt County Packer John Michael Hall.
Hall said "Playing in the NCAA Tournament that's somehting that I'll always remember.Winning the Missouri Valley Conference and Tournament. But to be honest with you some of my sweetest memories would be back at ABAC."
ABAC basketball was an opportunity for John Michael Hall to develop his game while staying close to home.
It also opened the door for Hall to earn a schoarlship with Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Hall said "I definitely got here at the right time."
In Hall's first seaosn at Drake, the Bulldogs won the Missouri Valley Conference and played in the NCAA tournament.
Hall said "It was just a really special year. No one expected it."
The bright lights of the NCAA tournament did not make Hall forget where he came.
Hall said "One of our mottos was we're not big time and we really took pride in the fact that we only had a couple of scholarships."
ABAC basketball may be gone for the moment but it will always be remembered by the players who were able to live their dream.
