ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Sheriff's deputies are on the look-out for a man with possible gang ties who was mistakenly released from prison.

25-year old Travis Billings was released from Burruss Inmate Boot Camp May 19th. He was supposed to be returned to the Dougherty County jail for four active drug warrants. Deputies are searching for Billings who is thought to be driving a blue Cadillac.

In a protective order request filed on Monday, Billings' ex-wife told police that when the two were arguing last week, he went to his car and returned to the house with a gun to intimidate her. Investigators believe Billings still has that gun in his custody and consider him dangerous.

In April of 2007, Billings was shot in the parking lot of the Mabry Motel. Police believe that shooting was gang-related.

Anyone with information on Billings whereabouts should call the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office at 229-431-2166.
