ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Phoebe Putney hospital has a new fixed PET/CT Scanner and it's the first one of it's kind in South Georgia.
The new Scanner has more features and better image quality. Radiologist Sam Belakhlef says this is really good for both the patients and the workers. They used to only have a mobile CT scanner that came into the hospital once a week.
"We had to basically cram in patients sometimes until 2am and that's not really what we needed to do. With this five days a week we'd be able to do a lot more patients, a lot more comfortable for everyone," he says.
The unit will be open 5 days a week and will be ready for patients on August 5th, 2008.
