ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More Georgia businesses are turning to the state's Work Ready assessment program to test future employees.

That includes the short-staffed Georgia State Patrol.

Applicants to the GSP's trooper academy can now take the test at 35 technical colleges.  You must score a silver level or above to be considered.  Albany Technical College says a lot of employers are taking advantage of the free test.

"It absolutely is a wonderful tool for employers business and industry," said Albany Tech Economic Development V.P. Matt Trice.  "I would encourage anyone looking to hire new workers to get in touch with us about assessing that potential workforce."

In addition to the state patrol, industries including Miller-Coors and Tara Foods are using the exam has a hiring tool.
