ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Marine Base's top enlisted man stepped down from his post for retirement Friday, and his new replacement was appointed.

In a full relief and appointment ceremony, Sgt. Major Randall Kennedy stepped down after nearly three years at the base, and Sgt. Major Scott Mykoo took over.

The Sergeant Major works closely with the Base Commander taking care of the enlisted Marines.

Kennedy grew up in Albany, and will retire after 30 years in the Marines at his home town base, and praised today's Corps.

"The Marines of today are just as fit, they are just as capable, and we are seeing that in their daily actions deployed around the world," he said.

Sgt. Major Mykoo takes over today officially as the Base Sergeant Major, the liaison for the enlisted men to the base commander.
